MEL SHUTES HEAD OF SRM STATE OF FLUX
ALAN DAY CHAIRMAN AND FOUNDER STATE OF FLUX
Mel has been a procurement and supply chain profes- sional for over 30 years, holding senior management positions in the automotive sector with Ford and Toyota, aerospace with BAE Systems and financial services with Barclays, before moving into consulting in 2005. He now heads the State of Flux SRM service line and has delivered a range of consulting projects covering SRM, procurement transformation, stra- tegic sourcing and training internationally, for some of the world’s leading companies. Mel has been the principle author of the State of Flux SRM global research report since 2011.
Alan has more than 20 years’ experience designing and implementing procurement best practice. He maintains direct client ownership for a number of State of Flux’s key clients, many of which retain State of Flux SRM services. Previously, Alan ran New Zealand based Fisher & Paykel’s global supply chain, before moving to the UK to join Accenture as director of the firm’s supply chain European centre of excellence. Subsequently, Alan became a director of procure- ment and supply chain at Cable & Wireless, before founding State of Flux in 2004.
