Investment in training Since we began this research in 2009, investment in training has consistently been an area requiring significant improvement. In 2013 it remains one of the areas making the least progress. This goes some way to explaining the gap between demand and supply of training mentioned previously. Here we look at a pattern of investment in training that has remained largely flat with, if anything, a slight decline since 2012 .

Where training has been taking place, it is the leaders that have been doing it. Over 65% of leaders have at least been investing moderately in training over the last 12 months . Almost twice the proportion of followers.
