Global 2010 SRM Followers
Greece 2011 Global 2010 SRM Leaders
Less than a third (28.7%) of the Greek organisations shares their strategic plans with suppliers (compared with 61.7% of the global SRM leaders and 55.3% of the global SRM followers). We believe that strategic plans should be shared with those suppliers that are considered strategic, because these suppliers need to be aligned to their customer’s strategic direction and even be encouraged to provide input and support accordingly. A two-way exchange of this kind can also provide valuable intelligence. During one supplier management project we discovered that the strategic objective of one of our client’s key suppliers was to exit the market in which they were serving that organisation. Supplier management technology To conclude the analysis on supplier management, we asked organisations to assess how effectively technology helps their supplier management activities. The majority of the organisations (64.8%) said that technology supports their activities adequately, followed by 21.6% who reported that technology supports them very strongly.
