CASE STUDY Starbucks Coffee Company

The world’s largest coffee house company opened its first store in Greece in 2002 as a result of a joint venture with Marinopoulos Group, Greece’s leading retailer. The joint venture has since expanded to 70 locations in Greece and in three other countries.

The procurement and supply chain function has been pivotal to the company’s growth. We talked to Starbucks’ Supply Chain Manager, Kalliopi Zarotiadou, and the Quality Assurance Leader, Vassilis Evremidis, about how the function has managed to position itself at the heart of the organisation and what initiatives have been implemented to achieve this.
