2016 Global SRM Research - Supplier relationships in tech

TECHNOLOGY

THEPOSTCONTRACT TECHNOLGYLANDSCAPE Little of the post-contract supplier management landscape is enabled by technology. While businesses are most likely to deploy contract management systems, they are still only in place in 62% of companies. Next comes supplier information management and benefits capture and reporting at 41% and 39% respectively. Where businesses deploy systems supporting SRM, their effectiveness is in doubt. Half see them as poor; 9% as very poor. However, there has been some improvement. This year, 46% of respondents reported adequate support from technology, (Fig 25) compared with 36% in 2015. However, this is countered by the fact that this year only 4% report strong support compared to 11% in 2015.

Disparate systems and lack of required functionality cause the greatest frustrations with current IT supporting of SRM. A third are also concerned about lack of supplier access to SRM systems. WORKINGWITHDATA Assuming that data is accessible from existing systems it is rarely in a form that can be shared. This results in excessive manual reworking, usually in Excel. 87% of respondents use Excel as their primary tool for working with data. information is fundamental to good SRM. Yet businesses are heavily dependent on SharePoint and shared drive solutions to manage information as well as email to broadcast information. While effective in some circumstances they are old technologies. Cloud-based applications have surpassed their limited functionality (Fig 27) . 87%of companies relyheavilyonExcel toworkwithdataand producereports SHARING INFORMATION The ability to manage and share
